It's Finally Done!

From That to This!! The Pasadena Showcase House finally opens tomorrow and awe are done!!

It was a lot of work as it always is, but boy was it worth it.The room looks great with some fun, unusual aspects that really make it pop. Here are a few things to look for:
  • Cow hide on the ceiling (for acoustic qualities)
  • Antique rug thrown casually over the sofa for a splash of color
  • Layering two rugs on the floor for added visual depth
  • A simple color palette that allows for seasonal change
There are other elements too but you will have to go and check it out for yourself. The showcase is open for a month starting this Sunday. Here is the link for more information: Pasadena Showcase

Show House Update

So work continues on the Pasadena Showcase House of Design. You may remember that I talked about that a few weeks ago. Well you can see the new stone floor is in, and the framing for the walls is starting to go up. Some of the lattice is in already. The Show house opens in about a month, so stay tune for more images.

Pasadena Showcase House of Design

I have always been a fan of Showcase Houses (groups of designers come together and decorate a house for a charity, usually doing one room each). I think that they provide the general public a great opportunity to see good design in person, instead of just in magazines. For the designers. it is a chance to try out some fresh ideas without the added pressure of a client.

Well, this year we are back at the Pasadena Showcase house, one of the oldest in the country, for the fifth time. My team and I are doing the Garden Room, which we are very excited about. It is a room at the end of the house, with windows on three sides, looking out to the garden. At the moment it is a fairly unremarkable space, but I see this as an opportunity to create an old-style trellis room. I have always been a fan of these spaces, and now I get to create one.

I will post some images of the room, next week, when I get back into the office, but for now, check out the inspiration images.....
